The heirlom braided rugs were probably made in the 1930's by the
owner's grandmother in Woodbury N.J. Since the house that they lived
in had once been a speakeasy it was possible to date the rugs from that
period. The small round rug was real challenge due to the disintegration
of the braid strands to the point that they looked like open work lace
and it was extremely difficult to find a place to sew into.
